Ali to Karim

A Tribute to the Ismaili Imams

Rich with ceremony, pageantry and tradition, Ali to Karim is a docu-theatre production about the Ismaili Imamat and its contributions to Islam and Muslim civilization over the past 1400 years. Ali to Karim is staged within a wondrous world of books, enticing actors and theatre-goers alike to enter a realm where events of the past come to life — from the time Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) declared Hazrat Ali the first Imam to the Takht Nashini (investiture) and Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary) of the present 49th Imam, His Highness Prince Karim al-Hussaini Aga Khan.

Ali to Karim draws from historical sources, devotional poetry, manuscript paintings, film footage, as well as legends and tales to tell the story of 7 cycles of Ismaili Imamat: a single lineage, a single essence.
